Xiangna Zheng (Nana) stands as China’s first and only female Drone Director of Photography and works as Director of Photography when she's not flying. She specialises in the synthesis of aerial perspective and emotive storytelling. Treating every flight path as a deliberate narrative choice, she ensures the aerial viewpoint serves as a vital extension of the director’s vision.
Nana is a master of heavy-lift systems, FPV, and the full DJI ecosystem. Her Drone DOP and ground DOP portfolio spans feature film, documentary, drama, theatre and high-end commercials.
Nana operates at the intersection of technical engineering and aesthetic design. Her expertise is trusted by global industry leaders, including Director Chen Kaige (Farewell My Concubine) and Cinematographer Christopher Doyle (In the Mood for Love and Chungking Express). Beyond feature film work, she is particularly passionate about documentary filmmaking and has collaborated with leading broadcasters like the BBC and PBS on high-profile landmark series. In 2025, she contributed to George Lucas' documentary for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art and received exceptional praise from the legendary director's team.
Whether utilising RTK to navigate a heavy-lift X8 rigged with an ARRI Alexa Mini LF in complex, interference-heavy environments, or choreographing continuous one-shot performances involving 500 extras and live animals whilst executing a smooth flow from aerial control to ground-level handheld on a hoverboard, Nana maintains uncompromising technical rigour and delivers an unparalleled aesthetic vision.
